The Impact of Abortion Restrictions on Violence Against Women
The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) program at UAF invites you to a timely and compelling event: The Impact of Abortion Restrictions on Violence Against Women, featuring guest speaker Associate Professor Ingrid Johnson. This talk will examine the link between intimate partner violence (IPV) and abortion access, with a particular focus on rural ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥.
Johnson will reflect on her role as an expert witness in the 2019 legal challenge to ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥â€™s Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) ban—a law that restricted who could provide abortion care. Her testimony highlighted how such restrictions uniquely harm survivors of IPV. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in a vital conversation at the intersection of reproductive justice and gender-based violence.
